What to bring to your appointment

Walking into your first OCC appointment? The Oral Communication Center is here to help you with your presentation, build confidence, and find your voice! Wanna know what to bring to an appointment? Here’s a quick guide on what to bring to make the most of your session:

1. Your Assignment or Guidelines

Bring any instructions from your professor. Including rubrics, prompts, or due dates helps your consultant tailor feedback to meet your professor’s expectations.

2. Your Draft or Outline

Even if it’s a rough draft, having something on paper helps your consultant see where you are and offer suggestions.

 3. Your Slides or a Visual

If your presentation includes visuals, bring your PowerPoint or Google Slides. Consultants can help with design, clarity, and flow.

4. Your Questions and Concerns

Come ready to share what you want to work on.  Whether that’s transitions, confidence, or time management.

5. Yourself!

Communication takes practice, but our consultants are here to help and make that process supportive and stress-free. Be ready to try new things and practice out loud.

Remember: A OCC appointment is designed to help you grow, not perform perfectly. Every great speaker starts somewhere! See you soon!
