A Beginner’s Guide to the OCC

What is the OCC?

• The Oral Communication Center is a resource for UMD Faculty, Staff and Students used to help build, and grow as communicators. Our primary focus is equipping clients with the confidence to communicate their speeches, presentations, and more to the best of their ability.

What can the OCC do for me?

• Students

  • Looking for more one on one help? This is the place! Through tutoring, the OCC can assist students of all academic levels and backgrounds to build their skills in public speaking, presenting, and confidence. 

• Faculty

  • The OCC can come to YOU, in class, to present what we offer, give live consultations in the classroom, and work hands-on to better prepare your students’ communication skills.

What do I need for the OCC?

• Nothing at all. You can come into the OCC with a full draft, rough idea, or even just an outline.
